How to Make a Tiny Desk AI Video
Step-by-step guide to turning your photos into a 15-second Outstanding Tiny Desk AI concert video with TinyDesk
TinyDesk turns your photos into a 15-second AI "Tiny Desk" style concert video. One photo is enough: that person, or pet, sings lead behind a cluttered office desk with a band. Add up to four more photos and your friends or pets join the band. You get an MP4 with sound, vertical for TikTok, Reels and Shorts or landscape for YouTube.

What You Need
- A free TinyDesk account. Sign in with Google or email.
- 10 credits for each video.
- 1 to 5 clear photos, one person or pet in each: you, adults who agreed to appear, or your pets.
Step 1: Sign In
Go to tinydesk.cc and choose Sign up or Log in. Google sign-in is the fastest. If you sign up with email, open the verification email before creating videos.
Step 2: Get Credits
Open the pricing section and pick a pack. Packs are one-time purchases with no subscription:
| Pack | Price | Credits | Videos |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $8.90 | 10 | 1 |
| Creator | $19.90 | 30 | 3 |
| Studio | $29.90 | 50 | 5 |
Credits never expire. Your balance is shown in the generator and on the Credits page in Settings.
Step 3: Add Your Band
Open Create on the home page or your Studio. Under Cast, pick Band (up to five photos), Duet (you and a partner on keys) or Whole band (one photo plays every role).
- Tap Add the lead singer and pick a photo. The lead gets the long close-up.
- Under Add your band, tap any spot to add a photo: Keys, Sax (or Trumpet for jazz), Backing 1 and Backing 2. All of them are optional; empty spots are played by fictional musicians.
- Under each photo, choose Person or Pet.
Each spot needs its own photo. The same photo cannot fill two spots.
Photos that work best:
- one person or pet per photo, facing the camera;
- face clearly visible, in good light;
- waist-up framing, because the outfit in the photo is the outfit in the video;
- an original photo, not a screenshot.
Avoid group photos, sunglasses, hats or masks, and blurry or heavily filtered photos. To use a group photo, crop each person into their own photo first. If the generator says it cannot find a face, or sees more than one, swap in a clearer photo, or mark a pet photo as Pet.
Step 4: Pick the Vibe and the Format
- Outstanding R&B: the classic trend look, with the trend's song. With people in every spot and vertical format, your video follows the trend's cut; bands with pets, the Whole band cast and landscape videos get a newly staged performance.
- Gospel soul: organ, choir claps and one powerful held note.
- Late-night jazz: upright bass, brushed drums and smooth crooning.
Then pick Vertical 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, or Landscape 16:9 for YouTube and wide screens.
Step 5: Confirm and Generate
Tick the box to confirm you have the right to use every photo, that every person in them is an adult who agreed to appear, and that none of them is a celebrity or public figure. Then press Generate video. 10 credits are taken from your balance.
Step 6: Wait and Download
Rendering usually takes a few minutes. The progress bar shows each stage. You can close the page; the finished video waits for you in your Studio.
When it is ready, press Download MP4 for the video with sound, or Download without sound for apps that mute music. The video is 15 seconds at 720p.
Tips for a Great Post
- The joke is the casting. Pick people, or pets, nobody would expect behind the desk.
- Add a caption that sets up who is singing and why.
- If an app mutes the song, post the silent copy and add the sound in the app.
- Make it clear the video is AI-generated. Do not present it as real footage.
Troubleshooting
- "This photo was blocked by the safety filter." Use a different, clearly lit photo. Your credits were refunded.
- The render failed. Credits are refunded automatically. Try again, ideally with sharper front-facing photos.
- A face does not look like the person. Use a photo where the face is larger, sharp and evenly lit, without sunglasses or a hat.
- "This photo is already used for another spot." Each band member needs a different photo.
- "You do not have enough credits." Buy a pack from the pricing section.
