How to Make an Outstanding Tiny Desk AI Video

What TinyDesk makes from your photos, shot by shot, and how to cast your own desk-concert band in a few minutes

You have seen the clip: a band squeezed behind a cluttered office desk, a lead singer who keeps laughing through the big line, a saxophone solo, and everyone back together for the last beat. TinyDesk remakes that desk concert with the people, and pets, from your photos. This page shows what your video looks like and how to make one.

What You Get

  • A 15-second video with sound, as a 720p MP4 with no watermark.
  • Vertical 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, or landscape 16:9 for YouTube.
  • Your band: one photo for the lead singer, plus up to four more for the band.
  • People or pets in any spot.
  • A second copy without sound, for apps that mute music.

Your Video, Shot by Shot

With the Outstanding R&B vibe, people in every spot and vertical format, your video follows the cut people know from the trend and keeps its song:

TimeWhat happens
0 to 3 sThe band around the desk: keys at the front, two backing singers behind.
3 to 9 sThe lead singer's long close-up, laughing between lines.
9 to 12 sThe saxophone solo.
12 to 15 sThe whole band again for the final beat.

The faces, hair and outfits come from your photos. The moves, camera and timing come from the trend.

Bands with pets, the Whole band cast and landscape videos get a freshly staged desk concert in the same spirit, still with the trend's song when you pick Outstanding R&B. Gospel soul and Late-night jazz get music made for your video.

Cast Your Band

SaxThe soloOptional

Backing 2Standing behind the desk, rightOptional

Under Cast, choose Band, Duet for two people, or Whole band to have one photo play every role. Spots you leave empty are played by fictional musicians, so a single photo is enough. Each spot needs its own photo: the same photo cannot fill two spots. Mark each photo as a Person or a Pet.

The casting is the joke. A boss on lead, the group chat as the band, or the family dog on sax all work.

How to Make It

Step 1: Sign In and Get Credits

Sign in with Google or email. Each video costs 10 credits. Packs start at $8.90, with no subscription, and credits never expire. See pricing.

Step 2: Add the Lead Singer

Open Create on the home page and tap Add the lead singer. Pick a clear photo of the person, or pet, who gets the close-up.

Step 3: Add Your Band

Under Add your band, tap any spot to add a photo. Skip the spots you do not need.

Step 4: Pick a Vibe and a Format

Choose Outstanding R&B for the trend look, or Gospel soul or Late-night jazz. Then choose Vertical 9:16 or Landscape 16:9.

Step 5: Confirm and Generate

Tick the box to confirm you have the right to use every photo, then tap Generate video. 10 credits are used.

Step 6: Download and Post

Your video is usually ready in a few minutes. You can close the page: it waits for you in your Studio. Tap Download MP4, or Download without sound if your app mutes music.

Photos That Work

  • One person or pet per photo, facing the camera.
  • A large, sharp face in even light, with no sunglasses, hats or masks.
  • Waist-up framing, because the outfit in the photo is the outfit in the video.
  • The original photo, not a screenshot. To use a group photo, crop each person into their own photo first.

If the generator says it cannot find a face, or sees more than one, swap in a clearer photo. For a pet, mark the photo as Pet.

What to Expect

  • Your photos decide how everyone looks. A sharper, closer photo gives a closer likeness.
  • AI video can still vary. Faces, hands and fast moves will not always be perfect.
  • If a render fails, your credits are refunded automatically.

Posting Tips

  • Set up the joke in the caption: who is singing, and why.
  • If the app mutes the song, post the silent copy and add the sound in the app.
  • Label the video as AI-generated. Never present it as real footage.

More Ideas

  • Couple duet: two photos, one of you on lead and the other on keys.
  • Pet band: dogs, cats and rabbits in any spot.
  • Sports fans: cast the friends who lost this week, in their team colors.

Rules

You must be 18 or older. Only use photos you have the right to use, of adults who agreed to appear. Photos of minors, celebrities or public figures are not allowed. See the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
